Recess
Parliament business happens throughout the year, with periods of "recess" (breaks). During recess, there are normally no meetings in the Chamber and no committee meetings. MSPs are usually in their local areas where they carry on work with constituents. They can also continue to submit motions and written parliamentary questions.
Parliament will be in recess on the following dates:
2024-25
- 29 June to 1 September 2024
- 12 October to 27 October 2024
- 21 December 2024 to 5 January 2025
2025-26
- 8 to 16 February 2025
- 5 to 20 April 2025
- 28 June to 31 August 2025
- 11 to 26 October 2025
- 20 December 2025 to 4 January 2026
